Anna's Story

Anna Arnett - Grief & Trauma TransformationI didn’t choose this work in the usual way.

Grief brought me here.

Within twenty-two months, I lost two of my three children—my daughter Julia and my son Spencer.

Their deaths changed every part of my life and set me on a profound journey through grief, trauma, and healing.

But my relationship with grief began long before that. I was raised by bereaved parents and grew up understanding that loss can shape a family for generations.

After the deaths of my children, I was simply trying to survive unimaginable pain. What began as a search for relief slowly became something deeper. Through that journey, I discovered that grief was not only emotional—it lived in my body and nervous system. In learning how to care for my grief, I also began healing a lifetime of trauma.

What began as a path to survive my grief became a pathway to profound healing. Grief became a portal to transformation—helping me find a sense of peace and freedom I never imagined possible. Trauma no longer defines me or runs my life. That journey ultimately led me to the work I do today.
Today, I support people navigating grief, trauma, and profound loss as they rediscover resilience, meaning, and moments of joy.

Through grief education, mindfulness, breathwork, meditation, and gentle movement, I help people understand that grief and trauma are not only emotional experiences. They are deeply held in the body. Loss can shape the nervous system, change our breath, and affect how we move through the world. When we meet the body with compassion and awareness, the nervous system can begin to settle, and healing becomes possible.

My approach integrates modern neuroscience with practices that help people reconnect with themselves and their bodies with greater compassion and awareness. The work is about learning how to carry grief while making space for life and moments of joy.

I am a Certified Grief Educator trained by David Kessler, a Holistic Yoga Teacher through Stanford Medicine’s YogaX program, and a Grief Yoga Teacher trained by Paul Denniston. I am also currently training as a Holistic Health Coach through Stanford Medicine YogaX.

Today, my work brings together lived experience, grief education, somatic practices, and a deep belief in the human capacity for healing. I offer compassionate guidance and practical tools to help people reconnect with themselves and move forward in ways that honor both their grief and their life.

While grief may change us forever, it does not mean the end of meaning, connection, or joy. With time, support, and the right tools, the heart can learn to hold it all.

Grief changed my life forever. But it also opened the door to healing, meaning, and the return of joy.
